Page 9a - Rare, Fluorescent Franklin & Sterling Hill Fluorescent Minerals

Minerals and books can be purchased using personal checks, money orders, and Paypal. My address is Stuart Schneider, P.O. Box 64, Teaneck, NJ 07666 and my Paypal name and email address is Stuarts1031@ erols.com (note, I put a space in my email address so that automatic email harvesters don't get my email address). Postage and handling, and insurance (if you want it) will be added to your order once the weight is figured. I mail using the US Postal Service with delivery confirmation. Terms: You can return any item to me within 10 days for any reason. If I misdescribed it, I will refund your postage both ways. If you are dissatisfied, you pay postage both ways. All photos are taken under daylight and Short Wave or Long Wave Ultraviolet (I use a SuperBright brand light). If your light is more than a few years old, the item may look bluer than it looks here. (NF) = non-fluorescent.

A great rich example of margarosanite with willemite and a few small spots of bustamite from the Franklin mine, Franklin, Sussex County, NJ. (Both sides shown under SW UV.) The margarosanite fluoresces pale blue and pink SW and the bustamite fluoresces red SW. It weighs 8.5 oz. and is 3.0 x 2.3 x 1.3 inches. $650.00, item #1609 (RESERVED 5/12/08)

Almost pure gemmy sphalerite with willemite from the Franklin mine, Franklin, Sussex County, NJ. The sphalerite fluoresces orange LW & SW. It weighs 12.4 oz. and is 3.0 x 2.3 x 1.6 inches. $110.00, item #1615 (RESERVED 5/12/08) Beautiful, sparkling golden sphalerite with brown willemite (troostite) and franklinite from the Franklin mine, Franklin, Sussex County, NJ. The sphalerite fluoresces golden orange and blue LW and pink orange and blue SW. The willemite fluoresces green SW. Hydrozincite on calcite from the May 2004 exploration of the wall at the sand lot of the Passaic pit at the Sterling Hill mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ. This is from the original small find of material. Super bright fluorescing hydrozincite fluoresces bright pale blue on red-orange calcite SW. It weighs 15.0 oz. and is 4.0 x 3.0 x 1.5 inches. $50.00, item #800 (RESERVED 5/12/08) Fiberous diopside on tremolite from the Franklin quarry, Franklin, Sussex, New Jersey. Fluorescent Quartz - Small quartz crystals with fluorapatite, calcite, and willemite on a dark matrix from the Taylor Road dump, Franklin, Sussex County, NJ. The quartz fluoresces pale yellow, the fluorapatite fluoresces orange, the calcite fluoresces orange-red, and the willemite fluoresces green (all SW). A very large cabinet piece with great coverage of blue fluorapatite and willemite found at the now-closed Mill site and from the Franklin mine, Sussex County, NJ. Fluorapatite fluoresces orange SW and the willemite fluoresces green. The piece weighs 6 lbs. and is 6.0 x 4.5 x 4.5 inches. $36.00, item #3629

Sphalerite with areas of radiating willemite and hydrozincite from the last remaining ore wall at the old Trotter mine (which is now closed to collectors). Collected 4/26/03 at the site of the discovery of the first radiating willemite. Sphalerite fluoresces orange LW, willemite fluoresces green LW & brighter SW and has a long-lasting phosphorescence, and hydrozincite fluoresces blue white SW. It weighs a hefty 2 lb. 3.0 oz. and is 4.5 x 4.0 x 3.0 inches. Item #463, $40.00
